In the world of sports, mascots play an important role in the entertainment and spirit of the game. These larger-than-life characters represent teams and organizations and have the ability to engage and energize the crowd. However, there are instances where mascots have gone beyond their expected role and become iconic figures in their own right. One such example is the story of the "Mascot Beat IP." The term "IP" stands for Intellectual Property, which includes trademarks, copyrights, and patents associated with a particular brand or entity. In the world of mascots, this means that the rights to the character and its likeness are owned by the organization it represents.

Universal free school meals for all students is now permanent in Massachusetts! Here is more information on Wellesley Public Schools lunches, and how best to take advantage of the universal free meals program.

For all levels, parents and students can access daily menus through FDMealPlanner.com, search for “Wellesley,” and select the appropriate school. Each lunch or menu item includes full nutritional information, including allergens. The site has a tool that allows for narrowing your selections based on allergens or dietary information.

All elementary school lunches are free. In order to get a free school meal at the middle and high school levels, students must take a complete meal that meets all nutritional requirements. Otherwise, a la carte prices apply. More information by level:

  • Elementary School: Lunches are free, but if a student wants just milk or juice, a $0.75 charge will apply.
  • Middle and High School: Only complete lunches and breakfasts are free. For example, a full pizza lunch (pizza slice, appropriate side, milk) is free, but just pizza purchased by the slice is $3.50. Students who bring their lunches can purchase milk or water. At the high school, select lunches carry an additional fee – see menus at FDMealPlanner.com. Signage is present at both WMS and WHS to help students make selections.

Wellesley Public Schools recommends that any charges be paid through an account at MySchoolBucks.com, though WPS also takes payments by check. At MySchoolBucks, each student has an individual account. Parents may make a deposit that applies to as many of their children as they like. Each deposit requires a $2.75 program fee.

Contactless Checkout

Whitsons Culinary operates a contactless check out system at the high school and middle school. All students in grades 6-8 receive barcode ID cards in class. Grade 9 Students will receive cards after picture day. Grade 10-12 are required to use their existing student ID cards.

After students receive their lunch cards, please have them care for the card and treat it like cash or a credit card. We do suggest a phone app “Stocard” that has the ability to create a barcode compatible with the lunch register system. Students who have phones or smartwatch with them can use the app to eliminate the need for the card. All students can transfer their lunch barcodes to the Stocard app for convenience at the following website: https://stocardapp.com/. Using a barcode ID card speeds the lines 30% faster than typing in a PIN number and 90% faster than a manual name lookup.

      Mascot beat ip

This mascot, let's call it "Mascot X," belonged to a professional sports team and had a strong fan base. With its vibrant colors, unique design, and entertaining antics, Mascot X became a beloved figure not only within the team's fan community but also in the wider sports world. This growing popularity led to a series of unauthorized reproductions and copycats. Individuals and companies saw the potential for profit by creating and selling merchandise featuring the likeness of Mascot X. This infringement on the Intellectual Property rights of Mascot X caused concern among the team and its management, as well as the original creator of the mascot. To tackle the issue, the team took legal action against those profiting from the unauthorized use of Mascot X. They filed lawsuits and cease-and-desist orders to stop the production and sale of infringing merchandise. These legal battles aimed to protect the Intellectual Property rights of Mascot X and to maintain the brand's integrity. While the fight against these copycats was challenging, the team and Mascot X's creator were eventually successful in bringing an end to the unauthorized use of the mascot's likeness. This victory not only protected the team's brand but also paved the way for other mascots to defend their Intellectual Property rights. The case of "Mascot Beat IP" serves as a reminder of the importance of Intellectual Property rights and the need to protect creative works from unauthorized use. It highlights the impact mascots can have on the sports industry and the lengths organizations will go to safeguard their brand's image. Ultimately, this case sets the precedent for future disputes over the Intellectual Property rights of mascots and serves as a cautionary tale for those who seek to exploit these iconic characters without permission..
