Epaulets in advertising: A visual history.

By admin

One well-known advertising mascot known for wearing epaulets is the KFC Colonel. The Colonel, as he is commonly referred to, is the iconic face of the fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken. He is depicted as an older Southern gentleman with white hair, a goatee, and his signature white suit complete with epaulets on the shoulders. The use of the Colonel as a mascot helps to emphasize the brand's Southern roots and its traditional recipes. The Colonel has been portrayed by various actors over the years, including celebrities like Darrell Hammond, Norm Macdonald, and Jim Gaffigan. Through his distinctive appearance and charismatic personality, the Colonel has become a beloved and recognizable figure in advertising, helping to promote KFC's products worldwide.

building a psychic, get access to wizard spells

i was wondering if there is a way to get access to wizard spells as a psychic.
Right now to get fireball could go Samsaran with Mystic Past Life, to grab fireball from the Occultist spell-list.

is there any other ways to get access to other spells. I hate playing classes where i dont have any true offensive capability

Rebirth Psychic Disciple lets you pick another spell, one level lower then your highest level. You can change the spell daily, and changed the tuned class each level up.

I second Rebirth for your Psychic Discipline.
If you're looking for offensive capability rather than versatility though, have a look at the Mind Thrust line of psychic spells. They might just be what you're looking for (pick the Will of the Dead phrenic amplification if you expect to face lots of undead).

Not exactly what you asked but there's the psychic bloodline for sorcerers that makes them psychic casters.

As mentioned the Rebirth discipline. Combine that with scribe scroll to make psychic scroll versions of sorcerer\wizards spells and then use mnemonic vestment as well as similar items (pages of spell knowledge)) and I think it's probably a viable workaround.

The relevant bit from the Rebirth discipline.

Spoiler: Mnemonic Esoterica (Ex)

By reaching into the recesses of your past lives, you gain knowledge beyond that of most psychics. Select a single additional spellcasting class. Once per day when you prepare your spells, you can add one spell from this class's spell list to your spells known and class spell list for 24 hours. This spell must be 1 level lower than the highest-level spell you can cast, and you cast it as if it were psychic magic.

You can decide to change the spellcasting class from which you draw this spell each time you gain a new level.

Psychic scrolls of spells learned through the rebirth discipline have to be UMD if that spell isn't on your list (anymore) when you actually use it.

That would be more a GM's call given wording and no errata (that I could find) on the subject. Each level you may keep or swap out a extra spell list from which to draw an extra known spell daily.

At my table if a player wanted to invest their gold so they could have a psychic version of fireball (Crafting a scroll for 187 gp and 5 sp plus another 2,500 gp for a mnemonic vestment or 8,000 gp for a page of spell knowledge) I'd let them. Especially with the consideration of the Psychic Bloodline for Sorcerer.

Or the Psychic could just do Spell Research and add a psychic version of Fireball to their class list for 300 gp.

Unless, gold is especially plentiful in the game, I see no game balance issues considering the other things it could be spent on (and the fact there is a existing arcane class that is snagging psychic signature spells not to mention the other crossovers like with the Medium via Archmage or Hierophant).

That's not at all how that ability works. Slithery D is correct.

You pick a class. Once per day you can add a single spell from that class's list to your spells known. At the end of the day, it leaves your list. The next day you can pick it again, or another spell. It doesn't put that entire classes' spells on your list. As such, it's not on your class spell list except for that day you pick it, so those scrolls you write aren't coming from your class spell list either. The fact that the scroll is psychic (vs. arcane or divine) is irrelevant at that point - it being on the class spell list at the time you cast is the true determining factor of whether or not you need UMD.

You're certainly free to house-rule it, but there's no GM call needed to interpret it as written.

Thread: CTP's Guide to the Pathfinder Psychic

I've once again wasted a large portion of my time making a new guide! This one's for the psychic, introduced in Occult Adventures.

If anyone has items, tricks and tips, etc., feel free to chip in your 2 cp.

Also, haven't done a Google doc guide before, so hopefully the link is viewable, etc.

Edit: Ah, nuts, I forgot to add a section on psychic duels to the appendix. Will update in the future!

Re: CTP's Guide to the Pathfinder Psychic

Excellent work! This was going to be my next guide but I'm glad someone beat me to it.

Note that when comparing Planar Ally/Binding to Simulacrum, remember that the former two give you a full-strength version of the creature. With the latter, it's up to the GM exactly what you get, because the "half-HD" provision can mean a lot of different things.

Reviews for "Nostalgia and epaulets: The enduring appeal of advertising mascots."

1. John - 2/5 - I wasn't a fan of "Name the advertising mascot known for wearing epaulets". The concept felt outdated and the gameplay was repetitive. The graphics and animation were lackluster and didn't captivate my attention. I found myself losing interest after just a few minutes of playing. Overall, I was disappointed with this game and wouldn't recommend it.
2. Sarah - 1/5 - "Name the advertising mascot known for wearing epaulets" was a complete waste of time. The questions were extremely obscure and didn't make sense half the time. It felt like the developers were trying too hard to be clever instead of focusing on creating an enjoyable experience. The lack of clear instructions didn't help either. I quickly grew frustrated and gave up on this game. Stay away from it.
3. Michael - 2/5 - I found "Name the advertising mascot known for wearing epaulets" to be underwhelming. The game lacked originality and creativity in its execution. The mascot choices were uninteresting, and the game failed to engage me. The overall experience felt mediocre, and I regretted spending my time on it. I would recommend trying other trivia games instead.
