Why Curse client is the top choice for World of Warcraft players

By admin

A curse client refers to a software application specifically designed for managing and installing add-ons for various video games. This client simplifies the process of adding modifications, customizations, and enhancements to a game, making it easier for players to personalize their gaming experience. Used primarily for massively multiplayer online (MMO) games, the curse client provides a centralized platform where players can browse and download add-ons created by the community. These add-ons can range from simple features like better user interfaces, improved graphics, or enhanced communication tools, to more substantial changes like game mechanics alterations or additional quests. Users of the curse client can search for specific add-ons, view ratings and reviews, and easily install or update them with just a few clicks. This convenience saves players time and effort compared to manually searching the internet for add-ons, downloading them, and installing them correctly.

Return of Reckoning

I've heard many times on the forum that you still can download addons and addon packs from Curse, so i checked out Curse site, found a client and couldn't find a way to do what i wanted with it. The obvious secret is, you need an old client (v5) for it. While it still works.

1. Download and install old (v5) curse client
The link to the old client is in one of the comments here: https://mods.curse.com/news/curse/2121- . lion-users
The link itself: http://clientupdate-v5.curse.com/

2. Find Curse link for addon you want
After installing, you can click "Install via Curse client" button on the curse site, the client will start a download.
The problem is, the button is present only on addon packs pages (example: https://mods.curse.com/addon-packs/war/ . g-you-5840) and all the addon pages are 404. But there's a way to download addons individually or those not included in packs too:

Use a link like curse://mods.curse.com/addons/war/addonname/download-client where addonname is the name of addon's curse page (paste link into your browser address bar and press enter, curse client should catch it and start a download).

For example, quicktacticswitch - the addon i was looking for so long. Here it is (with page name "qts"):
curse://mods.curse.com/addons/war/qts/download-client

Notes
I noticed that curse client downloads a 13mb addon database but still doesn't show any addons you don't have (and it doesn't even show all addons you have). Would be really cool if someone could find a way to either display them, or get a list of addon pages from it.
The download location for database zip is one of the subfolders in . \user\AppData\Local\Temp\Curse\, but i had no luck opening it (btw client tries to delete all zips it downloaded after extracting, so you'd have to work around that too. Or find the extracted thing somewhere).

tl;dr
1. download curse client http://clientupdate-v5.curse.com/
2. install it, log in, set up warhammer folder
3. use curse://mods.curse.com/addons/war/addonname/download-client (where addonname is the curse page name of addon) or "Install via Curse client" buttons to download addons

Edit: note that many addons are outdated and some addons have newer fixed versions posted, so i recommend using this to download addons you just can't find anywhere else.
Edit2: forgot "/download-client" at the end of links
Edit3: changed the formatting a little

Minecraft - Wine + Curse Client = .

Post by mike44njdevils » Fri Jan 06, 2017 11:14 am

I'm perfectly fine using MultiMC to keep track of my instances and log in, however I like to tinker with modpacks. My favorite feature of the Curse Client is showing which mods in your modpack have updates. I like that "bleeding edge" aspect. I also like being able to just click to disable a certain mod.

Has anyone tried running the Curse Client in Wine? Not to actually PLAY MC, but to build modpacks?

Just a little update. Was unable to get Curse Client to run under Wine 1.8.6 or 2.3. I didn't try the staging binary though, and I really didn't tinker all that much with the install.

Curse clinet

So I just downloaded the Curse Client, wanna use some addons to help me out healing. But whats suspicious is that I - in "My Addons" (rift) saw this addon called: "(LibSata) Safe's Table Library". What is this addon and what does it do? *Schwarzenegger style*

Is the addon safe?
Would very much appreciate a response :)

It's just an index of information that one of the addons will make use of. It's totally safe! Promise! There's nothing available on curse or riftui that are malicious or unsafe in any way. They're all screened really well.

This convenience saves players time and effort compared to manually searching the internet for add-ons, downloading them, and installing them correctly. Furthermore, the curse client often includes features like automatic add-on updates and compatibility checks, ensuring that players are always using the latest versions of their add-ons and that they work seamlessly with their game. This eliminates the need for players to constantly check for updates or worry about compatibility issues, enhancing their overall gaming experience.

Curse clinet

Moreover, the curse client also provides a platform for add-on creators to showcase and distribute their work. This encourages community participation and fosters a collaborative environment in which players can share their creations, seek feedback, and improve their add-ons based on user interactions. However, it is essential to note that not all games or add-ons are compatible with the curse client. Developers have control over whether or not their games can be accessed through this client, and some may choose not to participate or provide alternate platforms for add-on management. In conclusion, the curse client is a valuable tool that simplifies the process of managing and installing add-ons for video games. It offers convenience, community engagement, and ensures that players can easily customize and enhance their gaming experiences to suit their preferences..

Reviews for "Curse client's comprehensive game library: discover new titles"

1. John - 1/5 stars - Curse client is a terrible software. It constantly freezes and crashes, making it impossible to use. It also slows down my computer whenever it's running. The user interface is confusing and not intuitive at all. I would not recommend this client to anyone.
2. Sarah - 2/5 stars - I had high hopes for Curse client, but it fell short of my expectations. The software is buggy and lacks essential features. It often fails to update my games and mods properly, resulting in crashes and glitches. The customer support is also not very helpful in resolving issues. Overall, it's a disappointment.
3. Mike - 2/5 stars - Curse client is a frustrating program to deal with. It regularly fails to recognize installed games and mods, which makes managing them a headache. The interface is clunky and outdated. Even simple tasks like navigating through the app and selecting settings can be a struggle. It needs a major overhaul to become a reliable and user-friendly client.
4. Emily - 1/5 stars - Curse client is a nightmare. It constantly shows error messages and fails to download updates. I've wasted so much time trying to get it to work properly, but it's just a never-ending cycle of issues. The layout is cluttered and confusing, making it difficult to find what you're looking for. Save yourself the headache and find a better client for managing games and mods.
