Empowered runic weapon usage (Obliteration build)
I'm trying to improve and theory craft my frost dk CD usage.
Currently using the Obliteration build with dual wield and Koltira's favor (Necro FDK). I'm pretty comfortable with my rotation and manage to get a good overall (5k overall at yesterday during an Other Side +14)
I'm struggling with one thing though, and that is taking a decision on CD usage between Pilar of Frost and Empowered runic weapon when ERW is on CD
Generally I pop Remorseless winter, with both POF and ERW together on the first big pull, do a simple HB /FS > Obli rotation for the duration, try to use Frostwyrm in the last second of POF, and then if there's still time on the pack, pop Abomination limb and continue.
Works pretty well, I've manage some good 20k+ on big packs if I don't mess up at some point The issue is that, after that, POF and EWR have a 1 minute CD difference. In theory every third POF should match with another ERW
As the pulls go on, I lose track of the CD timers, and ERW catches up with POF, messing up that 3/2 ratio. In those situations I'm confronted to either chosing to wait 30 seconds or so for ERW to come off CD to pair it with POF and do a large burst, OR, pop POF on it's own and have ERW catch up during the pull to use later.
To me it feels like the optimal choice is waiting for ERW to be ready, since it guarantees that every single GCD during POF will contribute to either an Obli or a Killing machine proc, and not risk popping a POF and running out of runes during it's duration. POF alone without any haste regen seems like a waste of one or two POF-buffed Oblis
It boils down to either waiting for ERW to catch up, or waiting for a new POF like, 30 seconds for it to catch up with ERW.
