Amy Winehouse was a talented British singer and songwriter, known for her soulful voice and unique style. One of her notable songs is "Mr. Magic," which was a cover of the 1974 hit by Grover Washington Jr. In Amy's version, she added her own flavor and made the song her own. Her incredible vocal range and emotive delivery brought new life to the classic tune. "Mr.

Mr. Magic (Through the Smoke)

Mr. Magic is code for weed in this song! -you always give me a stress free point of view (weed relaxes her) -pick you up after school (picking up bud from your dealer after school) -take a token (practically sounds like take a toke) Lyric correction: to me it sounds like, "blue without my green" instead of "blue with a migraine" which would make more sense, she's saying she's sad when she has no weed to smoke. and c'mon, we all know songs sound like the shit when you're high! damn Amy's so creative, this is such a bomb ass metaphor

very good song , a bit funny too, sometimes I think of it as of the song sung by a weed smoker. she 's high, dreaming about a perfect lover, whom she's seeing through the "smoke" ;) she believes he's true , and is waiting for the smoke to clear. but when it fades. :DDD ok that's just what I thought once, the song is great

The lyrics aren't printed in the liner notes, so I'm just guessing, but it sounds like "Take a toke (and) all my love." Also, I agree that it sounds like "blue without my green." Definitely a song about weed. Lovely lyrics and tune.

I just saw a video of her singing this on YouTube and the lyrics are much easier to understand. She says "I'm blue without my green." And she definitely is singing "Take a toke, and all my love." There are no credits for this song in the liner notes, so I thought she wrote it, but apparently it's not original to her. Someone on YouTube said she wrote the lyrics, but I'm skeptical. You know how much misinformation is on the net!

Definitely about the love of weed. 'Blue with a migraine' were the censored lyrics it's actually 'blue without my green', Green being slang for cannabis! x

The song is definitely an amy original. roberta flak? has a credit for a song same name, different song. And if there's any doubt of the meaning. check out addicted. Amy was not afraid to sing of her live for the green. shes just genius at couching her double meanings. Genius

I was quite disappointed with Amy Winehouse's performance in "Mr. Magic". The vocals sounded off and lacked the usual soulful quality that I love about her. The song choices were also not very captivating, and it felt like she was trying too hard to be someone else instead of showcasing her unique talent. Overall, it was a letdown for a devoted Amy Winehouse fan like myself.

As a fan of Amy Winehouse's previous works, "Mr. Magic" fell flat for me. The production seemed rushed and the sound quality was subpar compared to her other albums. The songs lacked the depth and emotional range that made her previous music so powerful. It's a shame to see such a talented artist deliver such a lackluster performance.
3. Sarah - 2 stars
I had high expectations for "Mr. Magic" as an Amy Winehouse fan, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to them. The album felt disjointed, with no clear direction or cohesive sound. The lyrics were mediocre at best and didn't resonate with me like her previous songs did. Overall, it was a forgettable album that lacked the Amy Winehouse magic I was hoping for.

"Mr. Magic" was a major disappointment from Amy Winehouse. The album lacked the raw emotion and vulnerability that made her previous music so captivating. The songs felt generic and weren't memorable in any way. It seemed like she was trying to imitate other artists instead of staying true to her own unique style. It's a shame to see such a talented musician deliver such a lackluster album.
