In recent years, however, the cheer has slowly started to resurface, and the UNM student section have begun using the chant more and more at Lobo sporting events.

During Fran Fraschilla s short coaching tenure at UNM there was a small Baby Lobo mascot who appeared at men s basketball games but the Baby Lobo, in reality Fraschilla s son, left when Fraschilla quit the program.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - For only the fifth time in both football programs’ over one-hundred-year history, The Texas A&M Aggies will take on the New Mexico Lobos. The University of New Mexico is located in Alberquerque and their mascot actually wasn’t a Lobo at first.
When the school first got a football team in 1892 they were called “The University Boys” or “The Varsities” so they wouldn’t be mistaken for the local prep school. In 1920 they adopted the Lobo as the school’s mascot.
To make a statement with their new mascot, a man named Bruno Dieckmann thought it would be a good idea to bring a live mascot to the school. He left a wolf in the care of the New Mexico cheerleaders and would make appearances at football practices and game days. Unfortunately, the wolf ended up biting a child so they had to dispose of it. Now New Mexico has two Lobo mascots named Lobo Louie and Lobo Lucy.
The Lobo basketball program has one of the nicest stadiums in the country. University Arena, also known as “The Pit” was ranked 5th by the travel channel for best college basketball venues. What’s cool about the pit is that it sits 37 feet below street level. There is also a building on campus called the Estufa. No one knows what is in this building except members of new Mexico’s Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
New Mexico’s biggest rival is New Mexico State University who ironically also has the Aggies as their mascot. Every time The Lobos are about to play the Aggies they have a pep rally which they call a “Red Rally.” A tradition they have at this event is that they burn down a huge paper mache of New Mexico State Aggie and burn it to the ground.

For a brief period in the 1920s, a live wolf pup appeared at Lobo football games, but UNM administrators were forced to cease the practice when in the late 1920s a child teased the wolf and was bitten. [1] The school has returned to the idea of a live mascot, but safety has remained a concern. [4] On October 28, 1989, a live wolf was present on the sidelines of a Lobo home football game, and it reportedly nipped a player who rolled out of bounds. In 2004, a live silver wolf that belonged to a UNM professor appeared at the Cherry-Silver spring football scrimmage.

- Emma - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with my stay at Magic Springs Cabana. First of all, the staff were quite rude and unhelpful. Secondly, the cabins were not as clean and well maintained as I expected. The sheets were stained and there were a lot of bugs in the cabin. The facilities, such as the swimming pool and the play area, were also not properly maintained. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience and I would not recommend staying here.
- John - 1 star - My experience at Magic Springs Cabana was terrible. The cabins were extremely cramped and uncomfortable. The air conditioning was not working properly and it was hot and stuffy inside. The noise from the nearby highway was also unbearable, making it difficult to relax or get a good night's sleep. The staff seemed disinterested and unresponsive to our complaints. I would not stay here again.

The kitchenette was dirty and poorly equipped. There were also not enough parking spaces for all the guests, which was quite inconvenient. The location was not great either, as it was quite far from the main attractions. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I would not recommend this place.
