It is one that has so much potential for living your best Disney Princess life or dreaming of being somewhere else like the Basque region of Spain- I could easily envision another life when travel is allowed, swanning around San Sebastian drinking Txakoli wine and eating Pintxos. Instructions are provided detailing how to line the bodice if for example you are using a sheer fabric, but I chose to do this slightly differently and eliminate using a facing at all.

Pattern Test- Stitch Witch Patterns, Basque Dress

Ooooh it has been a while since I wrote a post for my blog here. I have written the occasional blog posts but that has been for the Minerva Ambassador Program. So here we are, many, many months later. I got a little sidetracked from blogging and even a little bit from sewing, I have started up my veggie garden, rediscovered my love of being in the kitchen and also sourdough baking (I know I am late to the Covid19 bread baking frenzy).

I jumped at the opportunity to test this dress, I mean look at it! I immediately got princess vibes from the pattern. The pattern has many variations a top or a dress, no sleeves, long sleeves and short sleeves, gathered skirt or an A-line skirt. I made the dress with the gathered skirt and long sleeves. I used linen fabric from The Fabric Store.

My sewjo had been absent recently and this dress really helped kick start that process. Once I got started sewing I wasn’t able to stop. The patterns comes with 2 bust cup options, A/B or C/D cup. I made the A/B cup which features one pair of darts versus the C/D cup which I believe is 2 pairs of darts. I made the gathered skirt with long sleeves.

The construction came together easily for the most part. I was through the bodice construction before I knew it. My neckline is a little gapey and I believe in my next version I will size down. I know the dress is designed for a close corset like finish, but given I was working with linen I didn’t want to put the fabric and seams under to much stress. Given the loser weave of some linens it means the seams when under too much pressure can pull or warp.

I struggled with the zip, I am used to invisible zips or even a zip fly but this was a totally new construction technique for me, lapped zipper, I think is the best way to describe it where the fabric meets and overlaps in the centre of the zip. I sometimes have perfectionist tendencies and this zip insertion really brought it out. I think I unpicked it about 3 or 4 times and it’s still not perfect but I had to move on. I think I will use an invisible zip in my next make or baste the folds of the fabric over before inserting the zip.

The only other construction technique I would change is understitching the facing at the neckline. The instructions have the neckline facing sewn almost all into place before the zip is sewn in, leaving a gap to be finished once the zip is finished. I would hold off understitching until the facing and the zip is completely in place. I think it would make a smoother and neater finish.

This dress is the perfect princess dress. I know some people hate the use of the word flattering but I don’t. The cut of the bodice and the gathered skirt just sits so nicely. I am pretty sure I have a costume murder mystery party coming up where it is princess or Disney themed and this dress will be the perfect dress to base my costume off of.

I honestly believe Madeline has created a beautiful and versatile pattern. Yes, there are a couple of construction things I would change/that I struggled with but it is a beautifully drafted garment. It is one that has so much potential for living your best Disney Princess life or dreaming of being somewhere else like the Basque region of Spain- I could easily envision another life when travel is allowed, swanning around San Sebastian drinking Txakoli wine and eating Pintxos.

I was really excited to try the Magic Crystal Hair Eraser after hearing so many great things about it, but sadly, it was a huge letdown. Firstly, the packaging was flimsy and not securely sealed, causing the product to leak during shipping. Secondly, when I finally tried using it on my hair, it did absolutely nothing to remove the knots or tangles. It felt like I was just rubbing a piece of plastic over my head. Overall, I found this product to be ineffective and a waste of money.

I have never been so disappointed with a hair product in my life. The Magic Crystal Hair Eraser claims to easily remove tangles and knots, but in reality, it just made my hair more tangled! The bristles were too soft and didn't detangle my hair at all. I ended up having to use my regular brush to fix the mess the Hair Eraser created. Save your money and invest in a quality brush instead of this useless product.

I purchased the Magic Crystal Hair Eraser because I thought it was a unique and innovative hairbrush. However, after using it for a few weeks, I realized that it doesn't live up to its claims. The bristles are too flexible and don't have enough grip to effectively detangle my hair. Additionally, the size of the brush is too small, making it difficult to cover a larger area of my head. I would not recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient hairbrush.
