The Art of Focusing: How to Make Something Go by Shifting Your Attention

By admin

Magic is a concept that has fascinated humans for centuries. It holds the promise of supernatural abilities and the ability to manipulate the world around us. One of the intriguing aspects of magic is its ability to defy the laws of nature and create seemingly impossible outcomes. It can astound and captivate audiences, leaving them in awe of the magician's power. Magic tricks are often centered around a singular goal: to make something disappear, reappear, or transform into something else. The magician's skill lies in their ability to manipulate the audience's perception and divert their attention from the actual workings of the trick.

The movie was hilarious. Mart Escudero, a relatively young actor who was mostly relegated to supporting roles in the past, was a revelation in Zombadings as he effectively took on the role of the film’s lead character Remington, a bona fide homophobe who gradually transformed into a hip grinding, disco dancing, tight shirt wearing, navel bearing queer. This kid simply oozes charm. He was able to sell himself as a cute boy next door and also pull off his other persona as a man loving gay. Although his delivery of his dialogue in gay lingo was a tad stiff, it was still excusable because he was portaying someone who was new to the language.

Technically, there were a lot of imperfections in the movie and some inconsistencies in the plot, but these could well be overlooked by the general outcome of the film. Zombadings Patayin sa Syokot si Remington is a Filipino independent film that has a silly premise bordering on the ridiculous, and hordes of gay characters in the front and center.

Remington and the curse of the zomabdings

The magician's skill lies in their ability to manipulate the audience's perception and divert their attention from the actual workings of the trick. Through misdirection and sleight of hand, they create an illusion that defies explanation. Furthermore, magic tricks often require meticulous planning and practice.

Patayin sa Shokot si Remington

Who would have thought that this movie was from Pinas? It’s as if they have their own language, Well, they do!

charoterang sprikitik, umappear ka vakler…

magpafeel,magpasense ditey sa valer…

witirsokoley ang udang chiditey..

sa fez na bombomarz na super kalarkey…

NOTE: I don’t own this video.

Literally, this movie made my face hurt because I was laughing the whole time. During our short Pinas vacation, amidst the crisis in our family, Doms and I made sure that we watch Zombadings: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington in Trinoma.

So, when we had the chance, we went to Trinoma and watched the movie.

From the start of the movie, I know that I will enjoy it already. The actor playing Remington, (Mart Escudero), was good looking and convincing. The story was funny enough even if the plot was simple, justice to all badings.

All the other actors including Eugene Domingo, Janice De Belen, Roderick Paulate, John Regala made the movie interesting. They all contributed very well to the outcome of the movie. Remington’s friends Kerbie Zamora and Lauren Young were also great in the movie. The kissing scene between Remington and his friend was hilarious and the punchlines were great and straight to the point.

My fave part was when Remington was starting to feel “bading” already. He was cursed to be bading when he grows up when he was kid and he was starting to feel it already. He was reciting the things that he sees in the bathroom then when the bading moments came, bading lingo was coming out of his mouth. The lines and moments of the bading zombies were fun too! There were some editing disasters but it was OK.

I recommend this movie if you want to have a good time and just laugh. I wish we can watch the other movies for Cinemalaya as well.

Sharing to everyone the official trailer of Zomabdings 1: Pataying sa Shokot si Remington.

Meanwhile, the town, Lucban, is overrun with strange occurrences. The town manicuristas (beauticians) in a series of unsolved murders, are discovered, burnt by a mysterious serial-killer. The cadavers have one uniform look, electrocuted into a leprous state of shock, coiffed in rich afro hairdos. The police and town mayor are, what else, perplexed.
