Vegas Magic Show Reviews (Nathan Burton, Shin Lim, Farrell Dillon)

Hi y'all. I went to Vegas this past weekend and saw 3 different magic shows. I'm by no means a magician but I am a huge magic fan so I am somewhat familiar with how different tricks and illusions work. Here is my review of the shows I saw.

Nathan Burton Comedy Magic

Started out with a bit of a dud to be quite honest. He performed at the Miracle Mile Shops at the Planet Hollywood. A lot of his stuff was some illusions that we've all seen before, contortionists and all that and while I don't doubt that he worked very hard on his props, a lot of the illusions weren't as clean as they could have been. It also seemed like he was just doing this as a job. Like he was just collecting a paycheck and wasn't that proud to be on stage performing. This is definitely a show intended for families and children so if you're looking to be impressed, this is not the one to go to.

Rating 5/10

Shin Lim Limitless feat. Colin Cloud

Fantastic show. Some really cool props and sleight of hand magic. Colin also had some really cool mindreading magic which I had no idea how it worked and was mind boggling to me. I really hope to see more of Colin in the future. I also wanted to get this show in before the Mirage was torn down. The issue I had with this show was the flow and theming. It seemed Shin Lim struggled to decide if his show was going to be a super serious Copperfield type show or a fun, laugh your ass off kinda show. Still extremely good as far as talent goes.

Rating: 9/10

Farrell Dillon Comedy Magic

This one walks the line between standup and comedy and had me laughing my ass off the entire time. This took place at the Jimmy Kimmel Comedy Club on the Linq Promenade. Some really good magic, some which I had a good idea on the method and others which I didn't. But the comedy in this show was fantastic and it's the exact kind of act that probably wouldn't win a trophy but Penn and Teller would love nonetheless. I enjoyed every minute. Farrell has a way of working the crowd and interacting with audience volunteers that was always impressive and hilarious at the same time. He also clearly loves performing his show. It was really everything I could have asked for from a comedy magic show.

Rating: 10/10

Farrell is more than a standard magician. He is a modern magician who incorporates outrageous comedy with mind-boggling magic tricks. Sometimes his tricks involve dangerous stunts which keep his audience members on the edge of their seats.

Reviews for "The Witch King's Blade: A Weapon Forged in Darkness"

1. Amanda - 2 stars - I was really excited to read "The cursed blade of the witch king" as I love fantasy novels, but I found this book to be a huge disappointment. The characters were poorly developed, and their actions and motivations felt completely implausible. The plot was also quite predictable, with no real surprises or twists. Overall, I felt like the author put in minimal effort and relied on tired tropes instead of creating a unique and engaging story.
2. John - 1 star - I couldn't even finish "The cursed blade of the witch king" because it was so poorly written. The grammar and punctuation errors were distracting, and it felt like there was no editing done at all. The dialogue was stilted and unnatural, making it difficult to connect with the characters. Additionally, the pacing was incredibly slow, and the story lacked any sense of urgency or excitement. I couldn't invest myself in the world or the plot, and it left me feeling bored and unsatisfied.
3. Emily - 2 stars - "The cursed blade of the witch king" had an interesting premise, but it failed to deliver on its potential. The writing style was overly descriptive and convoluted, making it difficult to follow the action. The world-building was also lacking, with the author failing to paint a clear picture of the setting and its rules. I found myself confused and disinterested throughout most of the book. The pacing was uneven, with too much time spent on mundane details and not enough on advancing the plot. Overall, I was disappointed by this novel and wouldn't recommend it to others.
