The magic of film has captivated audiences for over a century. From the earliest days of filmmaking to the modern era of digital technology, movies have the power to transport us to different worlds, create unforgettable characters, and evoke a wide range of emotions. One of the unique aspects of film is its ability to combine various art forms. Movies bring together elements of visual art, storytelling, acting, music, and more to create a complete cinematic experience. The collaboration of these different arts is what makes film such a powerful and immersive medium. Another enchanting aspect of film is its ability to preserve moments in time.

Pacific Northwestern doom metal monolith BELL WITCH will see the release of their new album “Future’s Shadow Part 1: The Clandestine Gate” on April 21st digitally followed by its physical release on 2LP/2CD/Cassette, June 9. Pre-orders, along with a short-making of video of the album are now live (link in bio). As well, the band have announced a surprise appearance at this year’s Roadburn Festival on April 20th where they will perform “The Clandestine Gate” in its entirety.

While traces of organ and synthesizer hovered over Mirror Reaper and Bell Witch s 2020 collaboration with Aerial Ruin, Stygian Bough Volume 1, The Clandestine Gate drew those instruments closer to the center of its compositions. Pacific Northwestern doom metal monolith BELL WITCH will see the release of their new album Future s Shadow Part 1 The Clandestine Gate on April 21st digitally followed by its physical release on 2LP 2CD Cassette, June 9.

Another enchanting aspect of film is its ability to preserve moments in time. Through film, we are able to capture and preserve memories, whether they are fictional or based on real events. This preservation of moments allows us to revisit the past, learn from history, and keep the stories of different cultures and generations alive.

Bell Witch Announce New Surprise LP, Out Friday

When a funeral doom band puts a colon in their album title, you know it’s going to be massive. Seattle-based Bell Witch haven’t put out a proper full-length since 2017’s tremendous Mirror Reaper, but today announced their next release will be the 83-minute, single-track Future’s Shadow Part 1: The Clandestine Gate, part of a planned triptych of albums. In very un-funeral-doom fashion, it’s coming soon: this Friday, in fact. In addition to that digital release (CD follows June 9th via Profound Lore), the band will be performing the album in full at Roadburn that same day, as if I needed more reasons to wish I was at Roadburn this week.

“Eventually, the end of the last album will be looped around to the first to make a circle,” says bassist Dylan Desmond of the triptych. “It can be continuously looped, like a day cycle. This would be dawn. The next one would be noon. The following one would be sundown, with dawn and sundown both having something of night.”

Sweet. Funeral doom, forever.
