Witch Bolt is a spell in the 5th edition of the Dungeons and Dragons game, also known as D&D. This spell allows the player's character to unleash a bolt of crackling energy towards a target. Witch Bolt is a 1st-level evocation spell that requires concentration. This means that while the spell is active, the player must maintain their focus on it, or else the spell will be broken. To cast Witch Bolt, the player chooses a target within range and makes a ranged spell attack. If the attack hits, the target takes 1d12 lightning damage.

If the attack hits, the target takes 1d12 lightning damage. On subsequent turns, the player can use their action to deal another 1d12 lightning damage to the target automatically, without the need for another attack roll. However, to maintain the spell's effect, the player must use their action each turn and stay within the spell's range.
