From the Shadows to the Spotlight: Wiccan Superheroes Shine in LGBTQ+ Narratives

Wiccan, also known as William "Billy" Kaplan, is a superhero in the Marvel Comics universe. He is not only a member of the Young Avengers but also openly gay. Introduced in 2005, Wiccan possesses magical abilities and is able to cast spells and manipulate energies. He is the son of Scarlet Witch and Vision, two iconic characters in the Marvel universe. Due to his magical lineage, Wiccan has inherited powerful abilities that he uses to fight alongside his fellow Young Avengers. One of the important aspects of Wiccan's character is his sexuality.

The most common source of magic used on the Boiling Isles, witches and biped demons can cast spells through a sac of magic bile attached to their hearts. Each bile sac contains different magic phlegms that can be mixed together to create different spells, and thanks to this natural magic reservoir, witches and biped demons can cast a variety of spells just by drawing a spell circle. Because bile sacs contain magic, bile sac users can continue to use magic even in places where there is no other natural source of magic present, such as the Human Realm. [1] However, as the magic is coming from a biological medium, the emotions can be connected to magic. If the user is experiencing intense emotions, the effects are similar to adrenaline, where the stronger emotions make the magic stronger but more chaotic, to the point their magic becomes uncontrollable. [2] Using magic while experiencing these strong emotions will cause the user's eyes to glow. [3] [4]

While it is implied that these are the only four possible glyphs, there are infinitely many ways to combine the existing glyphs to create more complex spells. In the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire film, Voldemort wandlessly knocked Harry to the ground, deflected Harry s Disarming Charm by waving his hand, and magically lifted Harry from the ground with one hand, apparently applying force to the latter s face whilst forcing him to his feet.

• If you wish to cast the exiled card, you must cast it while Chaos Wand's ability is resolving. You can't cast it later in the turn. A spell cast this way may be cast at a time you normally wouldn't be able to cast a spell of that type, but other restrictions (such as “Cast this spell only during combat”) are enforced. • If you cast a card “without paying its mana cost,” you can't choose to cast it for any alternative costs. You can, however, pay additional costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, such as that of Tormenting Voice, those must be paid to cast the card. (2018-07-13)

Edit from comments: This is also a good explanation of why non-magicians would be on a battlefield at all, since it would otherwise just turn into who has more/better magicians. Non-magicians are present on the battlefield to protect their magicians' tear(s) and to disrupt the tears of enemy magicians.

One of the important aspects of Wiccan's character is his sexuality. Marvel Comics made the choice to portray him as a gay superhero, making him one of the few openly LGBTQ+ characters in mainstream comic books. I was really excited to watch "Wiccan superhero gay" as I am a fan of superhero movies. However, I was disappointed with the execution of the film. The storyline was weak and the characters were underdeveloped. I also found it difficult to connect with the protagonist as his struggles seemed forced and unrelatable. Overall, I felt let down by the film and wouldn't recommend it to others.

I found "Wiccan superhero gay" to be extremely confusing and disorganized. The plot jumps from one scene to another without any coherence. It feels like there are too many things happening at once, and the film fails to establish a clear direction. Additionally, I was frustrated with the lack of character development, as it made it hard for me to invest in their journeys. Overall, I found the movie to be a mess and struggled to finish it.
