Fairly difficult to see now for some bizarre reason, this perpetual kiddie matinee film from the late '70s bombed hard at the box office as a last gasp attempt to ride that decade's Hollywood nostalgia boom (following everything from That's Entertainment! to Movie Movie). It's corny, predictable, and more than a bit soppy, but the chance to see James Stewart and Alice Faye in their big screen swan songs carries some weight. More importantly, the music by the great Sherman Brothers in their post-Disney phase has some really strong melodies if you're into '70s soft pop, (The fact that they wrote this after Snoopy Come Home is also kind of weird; you could program them as a Sherman Brothers weepy separated dog musical double feature.) The fact that Don Chaffey (Jason and the Argonauts, The Three Lives of Thomasina) made this in between Pete's Dragon and C.H.O.M.P.S. makes perfect sense, too.

I remember nothing about this film other than that my father thought that my sister and I needed to experience a movie at Radio City Music Hall and somehow got tickets to the world premiere. I remember the majesty of the the theater and that there were live dogs performing tricks and agility drills on stage before the movie. But I remember nothing of the movie itself.

Oof. Good old James Stewart does his best, but this is mawkish kiddie fare of the highest order, complete with some truly terrible on-the-nose musical moments.

I was really disappointed with episode 4 of Cherry Magic with English subtitles. The plot seemed to drag on and there were too many unnecessary scenes that didn't add anything to the story. The acting felt forced and the chemistry between the main characters was lacking. Overall, it was a complete letdown and I'm not sure if I want to continue watching the series.

I had high hopes for Cherry Magic, but episode 4 with English subs just didn't live up to my expectations. The pacing was incredibly slow, making the episode feel like it was dragging on forever. Additionally, the dialogue felt unnatural and robotic, making it difficult to connect with the characters. I was left feeling bored and uninterested by the end of the episode. Hopefully, things pick up in the next episode because this one was a miss for me.

Episode 4 of Cherry Magic with English subtitles was a complete waste of time. The storyline took a bizarre turn that made no sense and seemed to disregard the character development from previous episodes. The acting was also lackluster, with the actors delivering their lines in a monotonous manner. I really tried to give this show a chance, but it continues to disappoint me with each episode.
4. Jason - 2 stars
I've been watching Cherry Magic with English subtitles, but episode 4 left me feeling underwhelmed. The plot felt predictable and lacked any real depth. The characters' actions and reactions were unrealistic and forced, making it difficult to emotionally invest in their journeys. The series had a lot of potential, but this particular episode missed the mark for me. I hope future episodes can recapture the magic that initially drew me to the show.
