The Matic Pen: A Symbol of Hope and Resilience in the Harry Pattern Saga

By admin

Harry pattern is a design that is characterized by repeated motifs or elements in a regular and organized manner. It is named after renowned British designer Harry Pattern, who popularized this style in the early 20th century. The Harry pattern is often seen in textiles, wallpapers, ceramics, and other decorative arts. One particular tool that is commonly used to create intricate Harry patterns is the matic pen. The matic pen is a specialized drawing instrument that allows for precise and controlled lines. It consists of a reservoir that holds ink or paint and a fine metal nib that dispenses the ink onto the surface.

Minecraft players should avoid using the CurseForge launcher or downloading anything from the CurseForge or the Bukkit plugin repositories until the situation clears up.

The DungeonsX mod downloads a java class and loads it into Minecraft, executes a function that downloads the program again, and saves it as a self running file.

The matic pen enables artists and designers to create highly detailed and delicate patterns with ease. The nib's fine tip allows for the creation of intricate lines, curves, and dots, giving the pattern a sense of precision and refinement.

Curseforge Revenue and History

A few people were interested in how much mod authors earn, and I am here to share, along with some perspective from the pre-curseforge days.

Curseforge has been the king for mod hosting for almost 8 years now, and its existence as a platform has been much longer than that. It took off around 2014 when it soon began offering curseforge points which can be exchanged for Amazon or Paypal gift cards. It was purchased by Twitch in 2016, and is now owned by Overwolf.

Why did it take over?

Something a lot of people here seem to forget, or not know, is that modded minecraft before Curseforge was the wild west. Tons of mods were hosted on private platforms, dropbox links, adfly, minecraft forums, etc. Nearly every mod had its own license and restrictions on how you could use that mod. What did this mean? Public modpacks were rare or controversial. A few launchers existed, like Technic and FTB, but they had their own set of restrictions, author permissions, and drama to go along with redistribution. I spent a small amount of time uploading 3rd party packs to the FTB launcher, and while it worked, modpack authors had to get permission from every single author before the pack could be released.

Mod authors began to abandon their adfly links, dropbox, and private sites for curseforge. Curseforge offered guaranteed income and a public pack ecosystem. This was a great win for users too, fewer ads, a central hosting platform, and the ability to make and distribute modpacks.

What is it like today for authors?

There is a lot of sentiment going around that mod authors should absolutely not be 'in it for the money'. On a personal level, I agree with that, but I think this topic is far more nuanced than that. Plenty of authors have personally admitted Curseforge payments are why they started modding. Does curseforge pay an amount worth talking about? Maybe if you live in a low cost of living country where the dollar goes further, but absolutely not in the US or other high cost of living countries for 99.9% of authors.

  • Hosting - file hosting is expensive!
  • Advertising for your mod
  • Curseforge points
  • Occasional sponsorships for modjams, other misc. things.

How much does Ars Nouveau make?

Ars Nouveau is a mod with 13.4m downloads as of today. This is a screenshot of the Curseforge author dashboard. The numbers don't quite match AN as I had a few tiny projects years ago.

Important details:

  • Payments reset in December and slowly scale up edit: Payments are based on monthly ad revenue, and vary month to month.
  • Raw downloads does not convert to a monetary value.
  • THE PAYMENT ALGORITHM IS HIDDEN

I have personally invested thousands of hours into this mod, and if I were in it for the money, I would be the biggest fool on the planet.

Why does it matter?

The sentiment towards curseforge and mod monetization has become quite hostile recently in this subreddit. I think a lot of people are missing perspective that curseforge has fostered the modded platform from the adfly dark ages. There are plenty of bad apples, and we should call them out, but lets not grandstand without a more nuanced take.

It is okay to criticize Curseforge and call out greedy authors, just be mindful.

I am not encouraging widescale monetization of mods, but please understand that modding vastly improved because authors who were receiving $0 now have a slighty larger reason to continue making new mods, and maintaining the ones they already have. To even accuse authors as being greedy because we exist and stay on Curseforge is not going to solve your issues with Overwolf or their launcher. And in this same vein, ive also heard authors explicitly not use modrinth because it offers no incentives.

Edit: Corrections from buuz :)

One additional thing to note, overwolf has dramatically increased mod payouts for authors since the acquisition. I do not know what those exact numbers are, maybe some other authors can chime in with their comparisons. I have not been paying attention to my own payouts pre-overwolf.

Update: please check this regularly https://www.virustotal.com/gui/ip-address/85.217.144.130/relations , this is the ip that the trojans (the dropped files specifically) communicate with, it will add .jar s that it detects with time.
Harry pattern and the matic pen

The ink flow can be adjusted to achieve different line thicknesses, adding variety and depth to the pattern. When creating a Harry pattern with a matic pen, the artist typically starts by sketching the basic elements of the design. They then carefully and patiently fill in the shapes and details, layering strokes to create depth and dimension. The repetitive nature of the pattern can be soothing and therapeutic, requiring focus and concentration. The matic pen is versatile and can be used on various surfaces, such as paper, fabric, and even wood or metal. It is favored by artists, illustrators, and graphic designers for its ability to create intricate and precise patterns. Its precision and control make it an indispensable tool for those working on detailed designs. In conclusion, the Harry pattern and the matic pen go hand in hand, with the latter being the perfect tool to create the former. This combination allows artists and designers to bring their creative visions to life, crafting beautiful and intricate patterns that captivate the eye. The Harry pattern, with its repetitive motifs and organized structure, continues to be a popular choice in the world of design..

I couldn't get into "Harry Pattern and the Matic Pen" at all. The plot was confusing and hard to follow. It felt like the author was trying too hard to create a complex story, but it just ended up being convoluted and messy. The dialogue was also unrealistic and the characters were one-dimensional. I ultimately gave up on finishing the book because I couldn't make any sense of it.

"Harry Pattern and the Matic Pen" was a complete waste of time for me. The characters were forgettable and lacked depth, making it hard for me to care about their journey. The writing was simplistic and lacked any sort of nuance. The magic system in the book was poorly explained and inconsistent. I found myself skimming through most of the pages, hoping it would get better, but unfortunately, it never did. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
