I know the feeling. I sometimes get into a small panic a few days before my kids’ birthdays wondering how to do something just a little more than cake and presents.

What is a Birthday Fairy?
Let me back up for a second. You may be asking, “What is a Birthday Fairy?” Everyone’s story about the fairy is a bit different, but here’s how we talk about it in our house.
The Birthday Fairy flies to the birthday child on the night before their birthday. She then sprinkles magic fairy dust over them to turn them a year older and to bring them good fortune.
While the child is asleep, she slides the fairy mail under their pillow. Inside the envelope, she includes a special note and money! Each child gets one dollar for however many years old they are and an extra one for good luck!

Step 1: Prep for the magic!
There is nearly no preplanning for this printable birthday gift. All you have to do is print out the envelope and the letter. Step 2: Tell your child a story.
A few days before your child’s birthday, or even at bedtime on the night before, tell them about the Birthday Fairy. Explain that the Birthday Fairy comes in the middle of the night when they are sleeping, and it’s her magic that turns them a year older.
Pro tip: Embellish the story with details about the fairy. For example, you can describe what she looks like, where she comes from, or if she has Birthday Fairy friends. Your child will love it!
Then explain a very important rule: She can only come when children are sleeping, just like Santa Claus.
Finally, tell them that once they are asleep, she will bring them a special fairy mail birthday envelope!

Step 3: Share some birthday magic.
