Stop At: The Salem Witch Walk, 125 Essex St Crow Haven Corner, Salem, MA 01970-3706
At the start of the tour we will be casting a Witches Magic Circle to show what real Witches do and raise energy for a blessing. We will then embark on a walk through historic Salem Massachusetts. We will stop at Salem's Old Burying Point Cemetery where we will be preform a blessing for the wrongly accused. We then make several stops in the City to discuss the real Witches of Salem and their practices. We will cover the Witches Sabbats (holidays), and Esbats (full moon rituals), the core principles of the beliefs and practices of the Salem Witch.
All of those who take the tour will be given a discount to at Crow Haven Corner, which is the Oldest Witch Shop in North America.
With no legal representation, they were subjected to harsh interrogations and forced to endure the infamous witch tests, such as the dunking of the accused in water or the pricking of their bodies to find "witch's marks." The trials were heavily based on spectral evidence, whereby the accusers claimed to see the spirits of the accused tormenting them. The hysteria surrounding the Salem witch trials spread quickly, engulfing the entire village in fear. People turned against each other, pointing fingers and accusing their neighbors of witchcraft. The trials became a spectacle, attracting large crowds who watched in morbid fascination. In total, 20 individuals were executed, mostly by hanging, and many others died in jail while awaiting trial. It was not until the fall of 1692 that the tide began to turn. The governor of Massachusetts, William Phips, realized the injustice and halted the trials, releasing those who were still alive from prison. The following year, the witch trials were declared unlawful, and restitution was made to the families of the victims.
