More About Salem Public Library

Additional note: This building, which has been the Salem Public Library since 1889, was originally built in 1855 for Captain John Bertram, a successful merchant and ship owner. Self-educated and a self-made man, Bertram went to sea at 16, starting as a cabin boy and working his way up to Master Grade by the time he was 28. At 36, he retired from the sea, and established his own shipping company in Salem. Considered the richest man in Salem at the end of his life, Bertram was also a philanthropist, donating a mansion and money to create Salem Hospital, and founding homes for needy men, women, and children. After his death in 1882, his widow and children donated the Bertram mansion to the City of Salem for use as a public library.

In 1908, Bertram’s granddaughter, Caroline Emmerton, purchased the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion on Turner Street, which had fallen into disrepair. Ms. Emmerton renovated the house and opened it as The House of the Seven Gables Museum in 1910, with admissions helping to fund her House of the Seven Gables Settlement Association, a group that, to this day, helps the immigrant families in Salem.

Reviews for "Discovering the Hidden Gems: Talented Artists Behind Wiccan and Hulkling Fan Art"

1. Jane Smith - 2 stars - As a fan of the Marvel universe, I was excited to see some fan artwork featuring Wiccan and Hulkling. However, I was disappointed with what I found. The quality of the artwork was subpar, and it barely resembled the characters themselves. The proportions were off, and it just didn't capture the essence of Wiccan and Hulkling. I was hoping for something that would do justice to their relationship and characters, but unfortunately, this fan artwork missed the mark.
2. John Doe - 1 star - This fan artwork of Wiccan and Hulkling is just plain bad. The drawing style is messy, and the colors are poorly executed. It looks like something a child would draw rather than a representation of beloved Marvel characters. The artist should have taken more time and put more effort into creating something that fans could appreciate. Overall, this artwork is a disappointment and does not live up to the standards that fans of Wiccan and Hulkling deserve.
3. Sarah Thompson - 3 stars - While I appreciate the effort put into this fan artwork of Wiccan and Hulkling, it just wasn't my cup of tea. The artistic style was different from what I prefer to see, and it didn't resonate with me. The colors used were too vibrant and clashed with each other, making it hard for me to focus on the characters themselves. Additionally, the proportions were a bit off, making Wiccan and Hulkling look strange and unrecognizable. It's clear that the artist has talent, but this particular piece of fan artwork just wasn't for me.
4. Mike Johnson - 2 stars - As a fan of Wiccan and Hulkling, I was disappointed with this fan artwork. The drawing style was too cartoony for my taste, and it didn't capture the depth and complexity of the characters. The artist seemed more focused on making them look cute rather than representing their personalities accurately. While I understand that fan artwork is subjective, I was hoping for something more in line with the tone and spirit of the Marvel universe. Unfortunately, this artwork missed the mark for me.
