Nika witch from Merkry is a fictional character in the fantasy novel series "The Chronicles of Meredia" written by Lisa Johnson. She is introduced in the second book of the series as a powerful witch who resides in the mystical realm of Merkry. Nika is depicted as a dark and mysterious character with long silver hair, pale skin, and piercing blue eyes. She possesses immense magical abilities and is known to be one of the most skilled and feared witches in all of Meredia. Not a complete series yet but there’s only two left to come according to the Sadie’s readers facebook group and they’ve been released one every two weeks or so which means it shouldn’t be too long before the final two are released.
In a slight twist on the usual academy storyline, the main character a woman called Elliott who is 22 and already knows about magic, as does her little sister Maddy. She arrives at the school to find the trio of guys she d eyed up a few days before at the bar welcoming her with a bit of heckling and the guy she had a one night stand to be one of her new teachers.
Despite her dark reputation, Nika is not entirely evil. She is driven by a deep sense of loyalty to her people and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect them. Throughout the series, Nika is shown to be a complex and multidimensional character, capable of both great acts of heroism and moments of darkness.

My Review
Oh wow, where do I start? I know! This author is amazing and I loved this book. It had everything I was looking for. A strong female lead, check. Three swoon worthy men, check. Action that keeps you reading until it's too late to realize the book is over, check. wait, no! My only complaint is that it was over too soon and now I have to wait for the second book.
This is a spin-off series of her Academy of Unpredictable Magic. I did not read that series and it's not necessary in order to understand what's going on in this book. This book stands alone. However, fans of Academy of Unpredictable Magic will appreciate this one because the main characters make an appearance.
Sadie Moss does a great job with the pace and flow of the book. It starts right in with the female lead, Raelyn, finishing her final exam at Griffin and then getting a job offer at The Institute of Unpredictable Magic (IUM), which has been a dream job of hers ever since her magic sparked. Rae is smart, driven and super competitive when it comes to school and basically everything else in her life. She meets the sexy mage, Logan, at IUM and sparks instantly fly. He's also driven and competitive and this turned into a little bit of foreplay for the two of them. The chemistry and steam from these two is what lit my kindle on fire a few times. Rae and Logan are given their first case and they run into a bit of trouble. This leads to IUM bringing in Nick, the millionaire who has charm, humor and is a genius when it comes to science and magic. Also, Saint, a darkly handsome convict with a mysterious past. Rae feels a connection with all of them and I can't blame her because I feel it too. I can't wait to see where this all goes.

Nika's backstory is gradually revealed throughout the series. It is revealed that she comes from a long line of witches who have served as protectors of Meredia for centuries. Her ancestors were tasked with guarding the realm and maintaining the balance between the mortal world and the mystical one. As the story progresses, Nika finds herself caught in the midst of a war between the forces of good and evil. She must navigate her way through treacherous alliances and confront her own inner demons in order to fulfill her destiny and save Meredia from impending doom. Nika's character arc is a central focus of the series, with her struggles and triumphs driving much of the narrative. As the reader follows her journey, they are able to witness her growth and transformation as she grapples with her own powers and the responsibilities that come with them. Overall, Nika witch from Merkry is a complex and compelling character who adds depth and intrigue to the world of Meredia. Her dark and mysterious nature, combined with her fierce determination and loyalty, make her an unforgettable presence in the series..

1. John - 2 stars - I found "Nika Witch from Merkry" to be extremely confusing and poorly written. The storylines were all over the place, and it was hard to keep track of what was happening. The characters were also underdeveloped, making it difficult to connect with them. I was disappointed with the lack of depth and coherence in the plot, and overall, I did not enjoy reading this book.
2. Sarah - 1 star - I couldn't even finish "Nika Witch from Merkry" because the writing style was so off-putting. The author seemed to jump between tenses and perspectives without any clear reason, making it hard to follow the narrative. The dialogue was also stilted and unnatural, making it difficult to become invested in the story or the characters. I regret wasting my time on this book and would not recommend it to others.
